Lisa was recently named the Deputy Museum Director of the brand new Obama Presidential Museum. As the former Director/CEO of Telfair Museums, Grove oversaw a diverse lineup of exhibitions, programs, and events that attract international attention and make Telfair a dynamic center for the community. Major exhibitions created under her leadership, including Spanish Sojourns: Robert Henri and the Spirit of Spain and Slavery and Freedom in Savannah, have garnered multiple national, regional, and state awards. In addition, Grove oversees a temporary exhibitions program of 20 shows per year and stewards a collection of 6,000 objects of fine and decorative art from 18th century to the present. Grove has led the museum to new heights by raising record amounts of funding, dramatically increasing admissions and membership revenue, and generating four consecutive years of operating surpluses. She received the 2015 Georgia Governor’s Award for the Arts and Humanities.
Before joining Telfair in 2012, Grove served for seven years as Deputy Director at Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, where she oversaw the successful completion of a $10.4 million campaign and the design of an award-winning new website and branding campaign. Previously, Grove was a senior strategy consultant at The Monitor Group in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a traveling exhibitions project manager at the Smithsonian Institution.
In 1994, Grove was awarded a prestigious British Marshall scholarship for graduate study in London. She received a M.A. in History of Art at the Courtauld Institute of Art with a specialty in 19th Century European Art and an M.B.A. with Distinction in Strategic Management from the Imperial College Business School. Grove received a B.A. with Distinction and Honors in American Studies from Stanford University.
